Life at the _Beach_Club_ - July 2010  made-with-Nvu-t.png

Recent (today is Tuesday, 20th) pictures and text:

Went kiteboarding this afternoon.  Well - actually I went walking in waist deep water for a couple of hours - happened to have my 11 meter kite while there... - bottom-line - LOTs of 'exercise' and a 'bit' of kiteboarding.   I have a few bits of "kite maintenance" to do before we go tomorrow, - the above picture features three different kites, some bags, and some other things (like bicycles at the top-center of the picture...

Supposedly better wind tomorrow.

AND AND AND - Ms._May went today to 'watch' (actually she made sure that the no-see-ums (mosquitoes) had someone to nibble-on for a couple of hours.)

BUT she wants to go kite-boarding tomorrow - that should be fun.

20Jul10_TQ_sunrise.sm.jpg
a sunrise picture - slightly cropped, from this morning's TriceQ ride (about 30 miles (in about 3 hours)) I'm definitely getting slower!

TriceQ_sacrack.crpd.sm.jpg
a 'crack' in the TriceQ's swing-arm (front-right-side around the (1" / 25.4 mm pivot-tube) - the dealer and the manufacturer are working on what to do, maybe get a new swing-arm (would it be any stronger?, maybe weld this one (maybe the oil would prevent the weld from holding, - maybe put some strenthening stainless banding on this one? - any great ideas out there are welcome!

We flew (JetBlue Airlines (very nice, by the way!)) and spent a brief time in Bastrop, Texas, (near Austin) with my sister and her husband Dr. Marc.   We watched a LOT of the "Tour de France" on their spiffy TV system (yes we liked it a lot but not enough to buy one ourselves).  Kathy (my sister) and Ms._May and I went on a short (but HOT!) hike on Saturday morning, and here's a picture of the two more 'beautiful' people that were on the hike...

Austin.hair1.sm.jpg
- a smaller picture of some hair-styling!

Well the 'Fourth' is behind us - (yet today is the 5th and virtually no-one (in America) is working - but we have had 'some fun' recently...

fireworks.sm.jpg
What we did during the evening of the fourth...

04Jul10_TQ_mpsrc_sm.jpg
What we did on the morning of the fourth when we rode around and around and around thinking it would rain and we'd be close to home (it did NOT rain (though it threatened to) and we DID stay close to home

TRP.sm.jpg
- this is what they've done with our 'kite-park'; it's not ALL BAD, but it is about 99% bad - and it proves that politicians don't ALWAYS get it right (but they did 'get it right' with the new bike-path), which proves Once Again that 'everything in life is a trade-off' - EVERYTHING!

Bill_Tom.frnt.sm.jpg
What Mr._Bill did with Mr._Tom  (and Mr._George (who drove about two hours from south of Miami to ride with us!) on Saturday, July the 3rd (54 miles (and Mr. Bill kept thinking he was OLD, because he couldn't keep-up but he was just dragging a front-brake (and didn't find-out unitl the 52nd mile...)) - but - well - next-time I'll do better, huh?

Life at the "Beach_Club" continues - and though it's ONLY the first of July (and yes we have lots of plans for the upcomming "Fourth" holiday (most of our plans involve staying home away from the crazies on the river...))

However, I'm 'taking-votes' for which of this morning's pictures of this EPIC CLOUD formation are better?

and - YES - I had more 'work' to do today - camera-enclosure-glass to clean on two sites - Ms._May has a 'theory' about this sort of thing - I cleaned two camera-enclosure glass plates YESTERDAY, and Ms._May thinks the camera-owners all have Facebook pages and 'post' when they get their picture to look 'Spic and Span' - so everyone else telephones the 'office' down in Miami, and I get calls to clean the other ones!

Looks like I'll be doing a new-install-camera for some residential housing project near Disney on next Tuesday_6_July.  That will mean an early departure from here in Stuart and a long day in the hot sun... - more on that when it happens...

On the 30th of June we went to the "Hobe_Sound_National_Wildlife_Refuge" (near to our house) and rode a very nice 'beach-shuttle' - (which meant we didn't have to kayak-over) and fixed the Beach / Web Camera system there (which had an AT&T_GSM_cell_modem problem (that we'd been working on a couple of weeks (but 'others' got in the way of our 'best intentions'))).

IF you are at ALL interested in the last-day of last-month - then 'click-here' for that month's Web-page & pictures (of which there are quite a few!)

And - most of the pictures on the above web-site were taken with Mr._Bill's trusty _iPhone(3)_ but with the new version_4.0_ software - which has drastically enhanced the photos taken.  (Most) of the photos I e-mail around and there's now a 'question' set you get before you e-mail a photo, they want you to 'small-size' the photo, but I rarely do.   Most of the photos are MUCH BIGGER, now - and so even though I still have the 'Old' _iPhone3_ - the newer software (version 4) makes some significant and beneficial changes...

Life in the engineering department at the _BeachClub_ goes on and on and on...

trolley_box.v5.sm.jpg
Whoops - sorry - I had to 'engineer' something for my upcoming trip to work on a 'beach-cam'...   This little 'rig' is just what it looks-like - except the box (with my tools, spares, keyboard, monitor, mouse (for the computer)) goes where I am now sitting, when I 'pull it across the sand-dunes' to where I'm going to (where the beach-cam is!).    The (very tastefully done) umbrella was Ms._May's idea - but it will significantly help me be able to SEE the computer-monitor in the BRIGHT SUN that is typical of Florida Beaches in the summer!  This is probably version 5 or 10 or something like that, if one thinks in software terms - but it is probably almost finished at this point - not much else I can do to improve it!...

birdonbeach.jpg
Oh - while we are 'working' on the beach we have to make sure NOT to step-on this little-guy... He (maybe she, we didn't look!) - is a protected / endangered species (Least Terns) , and we have to be careful not to disturb he (she / it?)

If you want to learn more about 'Least Terns' here's a link to the Wikipedia page that tells you a LOT of information.

Speaking of 'TriceQ' things - May was 582 miles;   June was something like 400 miles - running-total is now really close to 7,100 miles...

AND - I passed the "G.R.O.L." test (elements 1 & 3 (124 questions) on Friday, 2 April, down in Ft. Lauderdale...   It is considerably more work, questions, study, electronic theory, etc. than any of the Amateur Radio tests were, and I've been studying the "G.R.O.L." material for nearly 3 months... - here's a Wikipedia Link if you're interested to learn more about this 'advanced' FCC license...   I'm hoping to pass other elements (7, 8, 9 (about 200 questions)) late in June, that will give me even more useless pieces of paper to hang on my wall...

Some people have asked, WHERE can I FIND, "X" - whatever the heck "X" is?;   but in my case - these two things are being asked about...
The "Tire Changing Web-Page"        and/or the       VANC (VikingAsia (Networks and Computers)) Consulting) web-page.
