Bill
Schell's "BeachWeb" for February 2012
Well - it's now later than Mid-February
(for all that is worth?)...
We spent the last few days helping-out at a Laser Masters Mid-Winters
East sailing-regatta in Melbourne. Well - there's ALL SORTs of
stories we could pass-along and things we might say, and pictures we might
publish - HOWEVER, suffice-it-to-say these 'Old-Guys' (Masters (there are
some older-ladies who do quite well too)) - but they are all
INDIVIDUALS...
AND SOME Individuals travel in quite
unique ways with their boats...
These guys are definitely 'expressive' in their
tee-shirt-message-choice!
This guy, hired and paid (peanuts) by the Park Service, makes sure that
everyone takes care to dispose of their excess food in a suitable
manner. I suspect that is why ALLLLL the Squirrels in this
particular park are CONSIDERABLY CHUBBY...!!!
RAIN cycling: - when I went for a
tricycle ride on Tuesday, 7th February - I was able to ride quite a while
in the 'dry'. However, I got STUCK on the way home in the
POURING RAIN, and decided that there are several advantages to cycling in
the POURING RAIN!...
1.) you get to wear your 'rain-gear' which
has been packed-up for MONTHS. Is the rain-gear still 'o.k.' or has
it developed HOLES?
2.) you get to RINSE your Lycra in the
POURING RAIN - this is a real advantage since normally the Lycra wouldn't
get a fresh-rain-water-rinse it would only get washed with soap... -
HOWEVER, while riding in the rain the Lycra and the rain-gear invariably
gets DIRTY - riding through the mud-puddles.
3.) all the lights that one NEVER uses get
'tested' when riding in the rain
4.) your TIRES get a good-rinsing so you
can really SEE the glass-cuts and other potential failure-points (YES - I
probably should change my rear tire today. (since there is an 80 percent
chance of rain and a 90 percent cloud cover (and the little downspout next
to the bedroom has been gurgle gurgle gurgling all night long.
5.) you can not SEE much of ANYTHING when
you ride in the POURING RAIN, - on the other hand this is an advantage
because the POURING RAIN chases cars-drivers away - they tend to stay home
so the roads are actually much more lightly travelled.
6.) you get to make sure you have enough
clothing on since the rain would normally be coolish and it wasn't bad at
all on Tuesday.
SO - Bottom-Line - riding in the
POURING RAIN is not nearly as bad as it might be?
====================================================================
Well, we'd been away (in Jacksonville) for
a couple of weeks and some other family seem(s) to have moved in and
taken-over.... - Here's just one member of that family - others were
around, though and they took 'offense' at our occupation of what we
thought was our house?
- On the other hand - since we didn't feed
them, they seemed especially intent on the squirrels, but ignored the
turkeys...??? We did not witness, first-hand, an 'encounter' but we
did see these guys (maybe gals? (who knows)) basically ignore the two
(wild) turkeys who wandered through...
This guy or gal is quite handsome and
if you want a facial-close-up it's
here...
Here's Mr. Panda Bear and Mr. Pooh Bear after watching the movie called "A
Bear Named Winnie".
For the movie 'A Bear Named Winne" there are two 'popular' Web-URL links:
the link to the IMDB page
for this movie
the link to the Wikipedia
page for this (very adorable) bear
IF you're pretty smart you can guess the rest, but if not you can check-out
Mr. PB & Mr. PB on Mr.
PB's web-site...
IF
you want access to last-month's web-page, then you have to 'click-here'
for the October 2011 web-site. AND / OR you can 'click-here'
for the November 2011 web-site.
