Today is also a Sunday and so we went for a short-tricycle-trip before breakfast (always makes the breakfast taste better!)... During that ride we stopped-by to pet Mr. "Monbak" (or maybe Mon Back) we're not sure because we've never seen it written down...) - Just as a little 'aside' the term 'monbak' is SOUTHERN for "Come on Back" as in when you're telling the guy driving the BIG TRUCK to "Come On Back" into the loading-dock... - Now why someone would name their cat Mon Back I have NO IDEA, but - there is it - and this particular cat is VERY VERY LOVEY... - We see him on our walks and our cycling around this area, we know where he lives and we have met his owner, Ms. Maggie...
Here is Mr. Monbak with Mr. Bill. (and yes - if you click on the picture you'll get a MUCH BIGGER image...)
Here's Ms. May's new Studio Sink (this took a drive to Orlando ( Ikea
makes NEAT STUFF at a FAIR PRICE) and they have a HUGEMONGOUOS STORE next
to the "Millenium Mall"), and
the plumber then came to hook-up
this sink and my shop-sink (no picture) on the other side of the wall
behind this unit. He also 'capped-off' the hot and cold lines that
are right under and next-to the 'threshold plate' under the new door to
the outside world... - A complex batch of jobs for him, and a long
day - However, the plumbing was key to getting a lot of things done
here. Once we decided on the plumbing part of all these jobs, and
outlined all this - it was fairly easy (though time-consuming) to get all
things organized...???
Here's Ms. May's new door from her Studio to the 'outside' where we will
eventually put a gas-fired-kiln (we think?)! That's Mr. Mike, a good
kite-boarding and kite-boating friend who we contracted to put the door in
(this is NOT for the 'faint-of-heart') - especially since, it was an
'internal' door we were trying to use in an 'external' application AND
since it was meant for a 4" wall (2" x 4" lumber) and we were using it in
an EXTERNAL WALL (which was 2" x 6" lumber) AND especially, also, since
there was PLUMBING in the way, and - well - you get the picture -
NOT a 'quick-and-dirty' by any (ANY) stretch of the imagination.
However, we DID finish and it is 'plumb' and 'level' and it fits and etc.
etc. etc. etc. - now we have to do the 'finish-work' (mostly
filling-holes, filling the drywall on the inside, and painting (which Ms.
May will do!)... -
We watched a movie: "Fly Away Home" (Anna Paquin / Jeff Daniels (excellent movie)) about a girl who ends-up at her Dad's place in Ontario, Canada, and eventually adopts some geese babies and when they get old enough to fly, she learns to fly a powered hang-glider and leads them to their migration destination in the southern part of the USA...
This is based on a true story, a guy named Lishman
actually built a (503 (c)) business out of doing this sort of
thing... There were several documentaries, but this movie was
particularly good!...
Another French film, "Winged Migration" Wikipedia
Link and/or IMDB
Link has the same name as the activities that Bill Lishman and
others have carried out for the US Fish & Wildlife Service and other
organizations.
We have an un-welcome house (well, actually, garden) guest... He's eating our tomatoes and he's eating the tomato plant leaves, and other things - I think maybe someone should eat HIM. I'm going to attempt to put a sign-on-him and maybe some of the local birds will EAT HIM (I certainly do not want to eat him!)
EXCEPT: we are 'moving-ahead' with these projects, and have been visited, today, by various and sundry contractors, sub-contractors, and other 'hangers-on' in order to get quotes for this, that, and the other project(s) that we have 'pending' (some people call these "Irons in the Fire"...
1.) installing a 'dual drain' under the bottom of Mr. Bill's new double-stainless-sink in his shop.
2.) installing a new (stainless sink and counter-top) in Ms. May's studio.
3.) installing a new door from Ms. May's studio to her 'kiln-area' (on the concrete-slab and under the roof that I built about 3-4 years ago).
4.) capping-off some "in-the-slab' copper tubing that were in the way of the new door (noted above).
5.) the 'continuing saga' of kiln-design and Mr. Bill's in-experience in some areas of Rhino3D (the CAD software) I'm using to attempt to model the kiln on a 'brick by brick' basis - and get an 'accurate' brick-count - MOSTLY attempting to use something called "Blocks" in Rhino3D (I'd not used "blocks" before, so I'm learning fast, about blocks...) (Mid-June update: - I've apparently learned how to 'crash' the software I'm using (and part of this is due to it's 'beta' nature)... - However, I'm still learning about blocks and I'm getting a LOT of terrific HELP!)
6.) Ordering (for later receipt) about $27 of part(s) for the 8 kilowatt
propane-powered hurricane generator that was 'gifted' to us by my deceased
step-father. This _Dayton_ (brand (_Grainger_)) generator has a
_Kohler_ 2 cylinder engine that has a starter-motor with an all plastic
gear-train and recovery-spring-cage, and it was ALL mucked-up and it took
almost a week to get the _Grainger_ people to take my order, but I suspect
those parts will come along soonish...
SO - now we know who's eating the mangos that fall on the ground...
- Harumph; at least we know the bunny-rabbits are not causing them to drop from the tree, prematurely...!
