Modern Technology really is better than the 'old-stuff'
- I know, now, too, since I replaced my 10 year old 'home-made'
(read that as UGLY but FUNCTIONAL) kiteboard with a 'modern'
kiteboard... - What has the industry come through in the past 10 years
- well - it's a LOT - and I went into the shop with two goals:
- light air (12-20 knots)
- wanting to go "UP WIND" really really well...
- I must have spent 40 minutes with my old board, and 2 or 3 of the new
boards on the floor of the kite-shop; I'm sure the owners / workers
there thought I was a lunatic (which; of course, I might be?!);
comparing size, rocker, footstrap-distances, weights, and all sorts of
other things... - I did find it went 'UP WIND' pretty-well - but then I
replaced the skegs (fins) and it went UP WIND even BETTER - so - there
is / are some things that are better / older, but the board itself sails
pretty well - I spent about 3 hours on it (and have had ZERO WIND for
the past few days!....
fins: - the new ones, came with the board, on the left, the
older-ones, I then put on (on the right)
Not much happening (yet)... - over the 'Labor Day Weekend'
(about seven weeks ago, now)... - I was in Sebring (Florida) for the
32rd annual 'Tour of Sebring' (cycling event). Three days of
cycling, not a race, but a 'ride'... - for 'details' see my 'blog-site'

there are some pictures, some text...
Just two of the MANY MANY pictures taken by Mr. Jim Harris - who is a
photographer who specializes in cycling and animal events (amongst other
things) - his son works with him, now-a-days, and they do some pretty
good work, together...
They are just starting to do "Go-Pro" stuff (Jim drives and his son is
in command of the Go-Pro on a "Stick" - and that gives them a really
flexible and ideal 'platform' for the "Go-Pro" stuff. - they are GOOD
and they charge for their work, but it is definitely worth it...
One of the things they gave me was a 'series' of "Go-Pro" images that I
can patch-together, (supposedly) with the "Go-Pro" software and make a
time-lapse... I'll try to get that on here sometime
soonish...
When I 'get more time' I'll do more test and pictures either there (on
the blogspot-site) or here...
